Abstract We have investigated a water-stable sol–gel method based on ethylene glycol as solvent and bridging ligand for the synthesis of ferroelectric lead zirconate titanate in bulk thin film forms. This offers lower toxicity solvent, higher stability toward atmospheric moisture simplified synthetic procedure compared to traditional methods. However, piezoelectric properties products produced using this yet be systematically studied. measured them existing literature different techniques. Ceramic pellets Nb-doped (PNZT) tetragonal phase were with high density good properties, comparable those reported found commercial elements. In addition, nine-layer stack was fabricated by spin coating onto platinized silicon substrates. The films crack-free showed perovskite grain structure weak (111) orientation.
